"I always admired players who are with one franchise. I think that's pretty special, and I'd like to remain as well my whole career,  MacKinnon said.

Nathan is obviously one of the key players in the NHL, so a long-term extension was something we wanted, manager Chris McFarland said.

MacKinnon is third in the NHL since 2017-18 with 442 points from 338 games.
